Where financial focus currently belongs
Markets gave us a lot to sit with this quarter. Inflation hit a three-year high in May. The Fed signaled it may raise rates later this year instead of cutting them. And renewed conflict between the U.S. and Iran has kept oil markets and shipping lanes on edge. It would be easy to read all that as cause for worry.
But context matters. Despite June’s pullback, the second quarter was the strongest for stocks since 2020, with the S&P 500 up 16% and the Nasdaq up 21% since March. Corporate earnings also remained strong, with full-year growth projected at its fastest pace since 2021. We see reasons for optimism alongside reasons for caution. Both can exist at once.
What we can’t control is Fed policy, oil prices, or how events in the Middle East unfold. What we can control is how you and your family are positioned for the future.
That’s especially true when it comes to setting up the next generation for success. Whether it’s a custodial account, an education fund, or the new Trump Accounts (more on that below), opportunities abound for helping children build their financial future.
For high-net-worth families, that same principle applies at a larger scale. Structured planning turns the complexity of tax strategy, asset protection, business succession, and wealth transfer into clear, confident pathways. An experienced advisor helps you see the full picture and make forward-looking choices rather than reactive ones.
As we move into the second half of the year, I invite you to schedule a summer review with your Gentry advisor. Let’s make sure your plan still reflects what matters most to you.

Time to plan your 529 distributions
Back-to-school season is here, and recent federal changes have expanded what 529 plans can cover and how families can use them. K-12 withdrawal limits have increased, the list of qualifying expenses has grown, and unused funds now offer more flexibility for the future, including options to help transition savings toward retirement. Talk with your Gentry advisor before taking a distribution to make sure your withdrawal qualifies under both federal and state guidelines.
Gentry in the community

The team gathered to shower advisor Caitlin Sharp with gifts and well wishes. She is due at the end of August.

Trump Accounts: What families need to know
Have you heard about the new Trump Accounts? You may be wondering what they are and if they fit into your family’s financial plan. Here’s what you need to know.
What is a Trump Account?
Trump Accounts were created with the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) and officially became available on July 4, 2026. They are a new type of savings account designed to help children begin investing at an early age. While they share similarities with individual retirement accounts (IRAs) and education savings plans, Trump Accounts have their own unique rules and benefits.
Who is eligible?
Before opening an account, it’s important to understand who qualifies. Trump Accounts are available to children who are under 18 and are U.S. citizens with a work-authorized Social Security number. Any parent, legal guardian, grandparent, or adult sibling may open an account on a child’s behalf. The account must be established before the child turns 18.
